Untitled (The Prayer for Your Happiness)

by Alexis Marie

in this world of hues of grays,
waiting for the moment of prisms,
i can reach out my hand,
and touch the rays of the sun,
and the rain.

i see the night’s moon
in the clearness of your eyes
–as you stare up, unaware
of mine.

you’re so lovely now, so youthful,
i wonder if you’ll be this beautiful when you die.

when your soul is laid to rest
and relieved of burdens
before the loving smile of your God.

–to know you then,
to know you now.
May I love you in the new life
as much I do now.
