Life Wears Thin (pt. 1)

by Alexis Marie

In the vision she’s
whole again– a pin-up
poster child for the
much wanted, elusive perfection

make-shift halo,
aglow atop her head,
to hide the natural hue of
her hair’s wilting gray
shade that makes noticeable
the shadows on her eyes,

and her face thiness:
the plain transparency
that Life wears her thin,
proved by the plump of her
surgically lifted smile.
